pictures from the aquarium we went to in a massive mall in dubai. en route to nyc last month, we spent 14 hours sweltering in the 48 degree heat. it was ramandan when we visited, and we arrived in the UAE in the very early morning hours. the only thing we could do was go to the aquarium and wait until sundown and the city woke back up. we also saw inception, although sitting in a movie theatre without any popcorn and oversized soda is a sad thing indeed.

today felt like the first official day of winter, and after a drizzling rainy weekend, all i want to do is curl up with my boyfriend and watch movies and eat snacks. another download for you, a bunch of winter appropriate songs, nothing especially poppy, mostly just beautiful voices from the likes of sharon van etten, owen pallett and more. to be enjoyed with a warm cup of tea and preferably with a couple of cuddly cats curled up and purring around your legs. xoxo

I have a HUGE update planned once I finally download all of our trip photos, nearly five weeks of traveling means that there is a ton of crap to go through.
Before that though, heads up for BADTASTIC! I can’t believe we’ve already done five of these! Our last one served as the PEACHES afterparty, we had over 700+ peeps come through, and big thanks to CONRANK for hanging out with us and providing some toooons.
This BADTASTIC features LOMANG as our special guest, y’all remember him as Ghostface Killah’s tour DJ and all around good guy. He’s also one of the forces that heads up HOT POT in Beijing with DJ Wordy, so you know he’s awesome.
Other tings coming up – Adrian and I are DJ’ing the frog design new office launch party this TUESDAY, OCTOBER 19, so ping me if you wanna come along. Also, be sure to sign up for the SHANGHAI ALLEYCAT race this Halloween weekend, it’s gonna be great and yah, we’re doing the afterparty. Gonna be a good next few weeks!

during our upcoming trip to the western world, we’re going to be doing a bit of driving so i thought i’d make a little summer road trip playlist. we’re planning on leaving providence and weaving our way through vermont, up to montreal, back down to niagra falls and then veering off to the left into toronto. we’ll drive straight back to providence after we’re done our trip, and then it’s a quick amtrak to new york and we’re back on a plane to shanghai before you know it.

spotted at the shonen knife/teengirl fantasy show over the weekend. you can go to smart shanghai either today or tomorrow and see the rest of the photos from that show. check out that tour tshirt! it’s from 2010 and it kinda blew my mind. uhhhh danzig, GNR, cinderella, slayer, billy idol, bachman-turner overdrive (i guess they dropped the ‘overdrive’?), rick springfield? germans have really really bizarre festivals. here’s the full size image if you want to see the full line-up.

very sloppy blog updates! here are two photos from last week. we went to the maison pourcel restaurant opening last week, the first photo is from the patio on the second floor, where we spent most of our time. bizarrely, the first floor of the restaurant was so packed you could hardly move and the second floor was completely empty, save for us and a lonely bartender who obligingly filled our glasses with more and more champagne. afterwards, we went to the nike TRIUMPH party on the bund, eventually we poured ourselves into bed.
we leave for our trip to the states/canada in exactly 8 days! i am so excited to get out of this country for a while – save for a quick weekend in Korea a few months ago, i haven’t left the country since CNY. we have a very busy schedule whilst in the states, and we’re managing to fit in visits with a ton of family members from both sides plus friends and friends and wondrous places and things to eat and see. excited!!!
