we rang in the new years in Mount Hood, Oregon and ohhh, it was so fresh and lovely! we stayed at this amazing cabin, 12 people, 4 days, a ton of champagne and groceries enough to feed an army. the snow was fresh, the hot tub was beautiful and we ate nonstop in-between games of poker, karaoke & the airing of grievances.
to be honest, i was a little bit freaked out by the trip in the beginning – the group i spent the new years with was made up entirely of childhood friends of john’s, people who have known him since he was a little kid in cub scouts. thankfully it all went well, my favourite part of every day was when all 12 of us sat down together each night for massive home cooked meals and all the wine we could handle. they were funny and kind and sweet and i couldn’t have asked for a better trip. yay for new friends & holidays in the mountains, xo.
happy new years! we had an amazing holiday, and still working to catch back up on real life. more updates soon, but here are some instagram pics for your viewing pleasure (add me! my username is jennywongxo). lots of love and happy year of the rabbit, xoxo.
i got a very old roll of film back yesterday and came out with these three pretty photos of shanghai. since i leave tomorrow morning for san francisco, i guess it’s appropriate that one of my last posts of the year be of this city that i love & hate. i’ll be posting once in a while during my trip, very much looking forward to being in the land of free internet and good customer service. big hugs + see you in 2011!!!
ps. they were taken with my old SEAGULL film camera that no longer works
my friend scotty fingers was in town a few weeks ago shooting this fantastic video as part of the Nokia N8 launch campaign. the app is a super simple to use mobile music maker that lets you make music anywhere & with anything, and once you’re finished you can share on facebook via SoundCloud or set it as your ringtone. if you have a Nokia N8 or C7, head over to the OVI STORE for your free download.
Big congratulations & happy 1 year anniversary to the team at Central Studios! We attended the birthday bash with high expectations — Central has gained a reputation over the last year of not only being an ace photography and production studio but also an amazing host of amazing parties, and this anniversary celebration was no exception. They went with a circus theme, complete with acrobatics, circus ring, pop corn vendour, face painting station & hot dog stand, not to mention three full service bars to ensure that none of their guests went thirsty. The music was fantastic, the decor was incredible and the whole thing went down without a hitch. Congratulations again to Rodney, Natasha et all, looking forward to all you guys accomplish in 2011.

Nike Sportswear China threw an amazing bash over the weekend to celebrate the launch of their latest campaign, Destroy To Create. tunes were provided by one half of the creative duo Kitsuné, and the entire warehouse space was transformed into a literal playground of destruction and creation. check out the Freshness Mag event recap, and also peep a video of the specially created tap nudemen DESTROYER EDITION iPad game created by awesome possum Francis Lam. big props to the Nike China team for a job well done!
ps. sadly, i arrived rather late and missed an appearance by Nike’s own China Flying Man, LIU XIANG! such a bummer!
stopped by The Source on friday for the first screening of Shanghai 5, a new skate film chronicling the shanghai skate community by french filmmaker and shanghai skate kid Charles Lanceplaine. turnout was fantastic, and there were many prizes & fun to be had – really great to see such a warm community of makers and doers. check out this this vimeo page for more from charles. xx
just a reminder if you’re in Brooklyn to check out my friend Sean Marc Lee’s awesome CHI-SEEN exhibit at the KK BROADWAY gallery. also, he has a book coming out soon! his photos will be on display until the end of december so please go, be merry! xx
i’ve gotten a couple requests for a christmas themed mix, so here it is! some oldies and some newsies, in particular i love the trans-siberian orchestra version of carol of the bells, which has always been one of my favourite songs. there’s no ‘all i want for christmas’ on this list, but i’m sure you’ll be hearing it enough while you’re out & about over the next couple of weeks.
overall, it’s been a pretty amazing year and i can’t believe it’s nearly over – we traveled alot this year, making it to seven different countries and sludging a massive carbon footprint through this pretty pretty world. this christmas we’ll be splitting our time in between the US & Canada – a couple days in San Francisco, a couple more in Portland & Edmonton, and then a grand finale in a cabin in the mountains of Oregon. i’m so looking forward to seeing what 2011 brings to the table but for now, right click the below and enjoy!! xx
