we got a first batch of photos from our amazing photographers last night, so excited to see the rest of them! loved the wonderful boy girl team of JOHN+LOUISE, they were so fun to work with and prompt and sweet and calm amidst all the wedding craziness. also, how handsome is my husband? you can have a look at the full preview album HERE. so filled with love! xo

have not been so charmed by a film in so long! a perfect date night movie. can’t wait for twenty years from now when @johnwrede and i can have precocious, adorable anguished adolescents of our own. also — watching the movie made me miss our times in rhode island, so beautiful! parts of the movie were filmed just down the road from where john’s parents have a summer house (we actually flew out of providence the day that they started filming!), fogland beach is lovely all times of years. new england, we’ll see you in august, can’t wait!

in march of 2009, one month and 20 days before we went on our very first date, i wrote this. 3+ years later, i’m happy to report that i’ve married the best guy, someone that ticks off every box and makes me happy like crazy crazy crazy. xoxo and happy happy birthday to my one and only love.

it’s thursday and the memorial day long weekend is almost upon us! we are puttin’ on the ritz this weekend and heading out to the half moon bay ritz on saturday to attend the wedding of our dear friend andrew to his dear fiance sae-yoon. so exciting, but what will i wear? the wedding season seems to be upon us – we have at least once and sometimes more weddings to go to every month until december. two big international weddings coming up for us next year and more friends with babies than you can shake a stick at. i guess this is what it means to grow up!
the last week was so wonderful – many out of town friends came to visit so it was filled with great meals and conversation. attended my very first san francisco giants ball game and promptly caught a cold (SO COLD), spent a day at MAKER FAIRE (thanks to GE for the passes!) and walked/ran/drank my way through the total, utter insanity that is the san francisco bay to breakers. after living in china for so long, it was absolutely crazy for me to see such reckless joy + debauchery taking place all around me, this is what freedom is, i suppose! we also went to the fillmore to see SPIRITUALIZED last night, my first time at that venue – so much history on the walls!
life is so good – blah blah blah. summer 2012, i can’t wait to be in you!

exciting news of the day is that we have found an apartment! we sign the lease tomorrow to a beautiful 1920s art deco apartment with floor to ceiling windows, beautiful light and (count ‘em!), three walk in closets. YES! the only downside of the place is that the kitchen is tiny, this is not in line with my obsession with tasty foods.
thanks to our very generous friends + family and my obscenely greedy wedding registry, i am now proud owner to very, very many pieces of beautiful le creuset cookware pieces. i’ve also got more cookbooks you can shake a stick at – back when we were in living in china, i would cook dinner 3-4 times a week but rarely with any formal recipes as it was usually quite hard to find the right ingredients. now that we are in the US, i have been cooking up a storm with the help of one lovely mrs julia child. photos above for her wonderful beef bourguignon, very delicious but i would seriously recommend using this updated, much faster recipe from the new york times, much easier + i just can’t see myself ever spending a zillion hours on a stew ever again! also above are random food yums as well as photos from the most amazing chicken i have ever tasted in my life – 40 clove roast chicken cooked in a 7.5qt french oven. delicious, so juicy and tender!
ps – if you are also on the le creuset bandwagon (new or old!), i would highly recommend checking out my friend tari’s wonderful blog, MY ORANGE POT. tari is based in japan, where she’s been for so so long, we’ve been communicating over email quite often lately, sharing recipes and advice, it’s been so nice to have a pen pal! she’s a true expert, and so many delicious recipes to boot! xox

needless to say, it’s been a crazy past few weeks. married!! done and dusted!! everything was fabulous, 170 guests dancing the night away at the beautiful san francisco maritime museum. to all of our wonderful friends + family who traveled from near, far and wide (can you believe that 120 of our guests were from out of state or country?), thank you so much for being a part of our day! real photos from our photographers will come along soon enough, in the meantime though these instagram photos will have to do – thank you #KimchiCowboy taggers for spreading these photos across every platform known to man, thank god for the internet.
ok, now what? oh right – social security numbers, finding an apartment (nightmare), getting my drivers license (bigger nightmare!), buying a car, getting a job!
ps. the last row of photos are from our honeymoon!
pps. this is the year of weddings – we are attending at least one a month until december, what is happening? five friends have had babies this year already, every time a new boy is born, i send the little guy one of these. i highly recommend you do the same.
