a couple of photos! BUSY AS USUAL. every blog post is the same, dear diary, i am really busy, dear journal, why is life so busy?
quick update: last weekend i went to the tongchuan seafood market with a large group of friends. if you haven’t been, you really should, as it’s essentially a fresh seafood free for all for anyone and all. we spent an hour running around purchasing various kinds of crab, clams, and other shellfish, and then headed to a restaurant where they cooked up our goodies fresh and tasty. the icing on the cake (the wasabi in the soy?) was bringing our own butter, which was melted and served to us during the meal – would highly recommend a trip down there!

so my friend abe deyo texted me over the weekend and asked me what i was doing on saturday – i said i was mostly free but had some things going on, and i got a message back saying “how would you like to meet john galliano and be backstage at the dior show?” uhhhh, yeah, ok!
so i turn up on saturday and find that dior has set up a massive, half block long building right on top of the bund. crazy! the gig turned out to be 2nd photo assisting roxanne lowit, a lovely lady with the craziest portfolio. the entire experience was total madness, basically like everything you think about fashion in your brain but right there in your face. soooooo… kelis played the afterparty, the personalities in fashion are fantastic and crazy and hilarious, and you can see more on my flickr set HERE.
also, here are some things i learned:
a) the fashion world is way way way crazier than the advertising world (duh).
b) bernard arnault is not “bernard arnault”, but MR ARNAULT, always.
c) john galliano is amazing!
d) you have to rub stuff on a model’s legs before they walk. maybe something to do with the shine, but also because some of them have that gross anorexia hair.
e) everyone associated with dior is really, really tall.

wowowow, it’s been a long time since i last uploaded any songs for you! it’s pretty much summer here, with the odd rainy day and huge gust of wind. been listening to alot of cheery sweet summer’esque tunes, maybe you’ll like them too.

Drummer Devon Clifford of You Say Party! We Say Die! died of a massive brain hemorrhage, his family said Sunday in a statement.
The Abbotsford, B.C., band was playing a show on Friday night at Vancouver’s Rickshaw Theatre when Clifford suddenly collapsed.
The statement said the hemorrhage was the result of “congenital defects” and that Clifford fell into a coma and doctors performed surgery but were unable to save him. He was just 30 years old.
“Devon Clifford was an extremely gifted drummer and determined character,” said the statement, released by the band’s publicist, Darryl Weeks.
“He loved his family, loved his band, loved travelling, loved being on stage and loved meeting people around the world. He was smart, witty, passionate, and music meant everything to him. He was also incredibly generous with his love and respected everybody he came into contact with.”
The family went on to “remind young people to have the courage to follow their dreams like Devon did.” They also praised his involvement with the Portland Hotel Society, a group that helps provide shelter for Vancouver’s homeless population.
RIP.

YES, it’s been a long time. thanks for all your snotty little comments reminding me time and again to update this silly thing.
as you can see, there has been ALOT of activity over the last month or so. we did a bit of traveling – john and i went to korea and ate kimchi every meal for three days straight (the second photo is a shop in seoul that shares my korean name, heehee). we also went to zhujiajiao for a short overnight trip and a little zone friendly relaxation.
photographer todd selby (of THE SELBY) was in town last week shooting a louis vuitton something or other, so there were drinks and merrymaking at el coctel along with his reps from BA. was also good to see our friends from MISHKANYC in town, even though it was a short visit. finally, last week, i went to the first CSL shanghai match of the season, check out the insane police presence! i don’t think the game itself needed all that security, most likely just a prep for the expo.
i’m crazy busy at work, so this post is especially boring. STILL, here it is. this weekend i’m looking forward to eating, go-karting, karaoke’ing, rabble rousing. eeeeeeeeeh!

HEY IT’S BADTASTIC TIME AGAIN! ‘fuck the pain away’ peaches is coming to town on APRIL 23rd and we’re hosting the official afterparty. peep the details HERE – we have DJCONRANK (killa kela’s DJ) and an appearance by wunderkids Matthew & Francis – they’re doing a live BITBOXLAND performance that will totally blow your mind. also, of course, as many badtastic djs as you can stand, heyyyy.
