TEXT ONLY RAGE (ALSO KNOWN AS I NEED TO LEAVE CHINA).

uncategorized — Jenn Wong @ 3:22 am

this is a text only post, as I am too busy to upload anything and have also been too busy to take any photos. also, i don’t know where the battery charger is to any of my cameras, but that’s another issue that will be dealt with accordingly.

everyone is bustling around to get things done before the break, a campaign i have been working on for the last 7 months is finally coming to an end (october 24th, i’m looking at you). this means that for the last two months i have been working 14 hours days and coming home miserable and tired. ohhhhhhhhh and i am so cranky lately, i’m impressed that john hasn’t killed me yet.

here are some things that have been making me especially angry lately:

001: i sit near the reception area in our very open plan office. at least once or twice throughout the day, a delivery person will come in and hang around the front desk area waiting for whatever it is they are waiting for, and while they are waiting, they will get on their mobile phones and they will start SCREAMING INTO IT at an ungodly level. WHY?!! it is an office, and there is no one else screaming, so why do they think it’s ok for them to scream?!

002: when i’m biking ANYWHERE, i will be biking down a bike path and there will be a million idiots WALKING on the bike path when there is a perfectly good sidewalk RIGHT THERE. just fucking walk on it, where you are supposed to, because you will ignore my incessantly ringing bike bell and then i will “accidentally” kick you as i am biking past you.

003. also related to people walking, it makes me SO ANGRY when i am walking or biking and there is someone walking or biking towards me, and instead of just moving to the side, they just STOP and look at me like an idiot deer in the headlights. and usually if it looks like that person is too stupid to recognize that i am about to plow into them, i will yield and move to the right or left of them, and then there is a 30 second stupid idiot dance where the person will also move to the right or the left, but that person will have not even one fucking inch of instinct in their brain so they will continually move in the same direction you are moving. AND THEN I JUST DIE.

004: CHINESE INTERNET YOU ARE KILLING ME.

005: same as 004, repeat until dead.

55DSL x DIPLO x STEVE AOKI

brands, events, parties, people, shanghai — Jenn Wong @ 4:36 am

sam’s brother + friend Josh got into town on Friday, and to celebrate, we headed out to a banquet dinner at southern barbarian where everyone stuffed their faces with yunnan food, the braver of us sampling a dish of deep fried bees (”bees?! BEADS. bees?! job’s not on board” aharharhar). afterwards, we walked for ages trying to find a cab, and instead ended up seeking refuge at the garden hotel, where we were treated to a view of the city, and bizarre, mid-90s-esque lounge singing sung by a Real Live lounge singer. from there, we walked (WALKED! shanghai, whaddup w/your lack of cabs?) to park 97 for the diesel party, another terrible brand party saved only by the fact that diplo + steve aoki were dj’ing. good music, douchey people, late nights. thanks, shanghai! xx. (ps. photo above by kidplastik).

counting down the days…

uncategorized — Jenn Wong @ 11:12 pm

everyone in shanghai is counting down the days until the october holiday when we can all just GET THE FUG OUTTA HERE. yaya and drew are off to vietnam, sammy’s off to thailand, adrian and sandy are off to… er, somewhere?

one week from today, anyways, john and i are straight up LEAVING, a much needed break after a couple weeks of grueling work schedules, meetings, excessively late nights and general unhealthy shanghai living. i’m looking forward to hanging out with my family in the good ol’ city of champions, as well as trips to north carolina and rhode island. (we’re going to go visit john’s family in R.I., and attend a wedding in N.C., a wedding, according to john, where if at the reception the song ’shout’ by the isley brothers comes on, i need to ‘participate’ and ’smile, dammit’.)

seriously guys, i’m SO TIRED. sorry for the lack of blog updates, if i were to post everything i was thinking, it would just sound like “complain complain tired tired WORK tired cats complain complain TIRED”.

it was a fun trip but i’m glad to be back safe & sound in shanghai. i forgot my memory card so the photos above are adrian’s, check out his flickr for more.

W+K ROOFTOP PARTY, GOODBYE JASON WHITE!

events, shanghai — Jenn Wong @ 5:41 am

we at W+K Shanghai hosted a spectacular MJ themed going away party for one of our esteemed leaders last night – my boss and friend is leaving us for Portland. we danced and laughed and cried and drank, overall it was bittersweet and fun and we’re now all very very hungover. ohhhhh, hangover.

HANDSOME FURS DO SHANGHAI!

music, shanghai — Jenn Wong @ 5:34 am

so we flew back from beijing early on saturday after the monster SOURCE party and slept for a couple of hours before going to see the fucking yuyintang. even though we were super tired, i was SO GLAD we went, those dudes rocked super hard and stage dived and sweat their asses off and it was one of the best shows i’ve been to in what feels like ages. i also managed to get a sweet spot up on stage, so it helped that i didn’t get trampled in that sweaty, crazy, dancing crowd.

thanks SPLITWORKS for yet another awesome gig. check out more handsome furs photos HERE ON MY FLICKR.

THE SOURCE BEIJING FLAGSHIP STORE BLOCK PARTY!

beijing, events — Jenn Wong @ 4:50 am

we had a VERY excellent trip – a bunch of us caught a train on thursday night and ambled into the country’s capital somewheres around 8am. the ride was filled with cigarettes and whiskey and poker and asshole and big two, as well as the obligatory patriotic train music blaring at bright and early stupid o’clock. we crashed hard hotel style and got to the block party right on time, where there was live art, fashion show, bands (including a performance from the skuff & inja show, which was my favourite) and booze booze booze.

big HUGE ups to the SOURCE for bringing me down (and putting me up!) and congrats to JELLYMON for an amaaaazing event.

check out about a zillion photos of the party HERE!!
