so i’m back home now, in smoggy hazy hilarious shanghai. most bizarre and sweet, my ayi came by on monday night with some Real Live Hairy Crabs! i think i must have looked horrified and confused, because she made a big show of putting them on the counter and letting me watch them do their creepy walk around. then she put them in a pot and boiled them, and then left me to eat them?

the thing is, i’m down with crabs, i like them in restaurants, with ginger and garlic, red and delicious. i just can’t deal with eating anything that was previously walking around my apartment. you know?
